  • Châteauneuf de Gadagne was built on a hill that separates the Rhône Valley from the inner Vaucluse. Sitting on the eastern side of the hill, Gadagne faces the Mont Ventoux, the Comtat Venaissin plains, and the Pays des Sorgues. It is a Provençal village with a rich past, with its 12th- and 14th-century battlements, but also the private domain of the château de Fontségugne, where in 1854 Frédéric Mistral and his friends founded the Félibrige, a movement to defend and promote the Provençal language.
