  • Born in Kobe in 1933, Yoshi Oida studied philosophy as well as Noh and Kabuki, and has lived in France since 1968. Legendary for his work with Peter Brook, he also appeared in films by Peter Greenaway or Martin Scorsese. He is the author of three books about his rich and unique career as a “floating, invisible, and cunning” actor. Since 1975, he has directed plays, operas, and dance shows. The audience of the Festival d'Avignon will remember his performances in The Conference of the Birds (1979), The Mah?bh?rata (1985), and The Tempest (1991), directed by Peter Brook.
