Sophie Linsmaux and Aurelio Mergola met while studying drama in Belgium, during a training course whose title, “The journey of gesture,” would thereafter guide their collective work. Since 2011, they've worked on a shared stage language in which their wordless theatre depicts and explores the world through modern fables. Everything is going smashingly awful, and humanity is in peril: what meaning can we find in situations and actions we throw ourselves into with conviction and without thinking? Their sharp sense of observation leaves actors and audiences alike on edge, their bodies and nerves stripped raw. Their collaboration has so far given birth to, among other shows, Keep going (2014), Still Life (2016), and View (2018). Sophie Linsmaux and Aurelio Mergola produced the short play Frozen for the Festival d'Avignon in 2015. They have been associate artists at the Théâtre Les Tanneurs since July 2019.
